"Intense, using a combination of appassimento and barrel aging to create a rounder, deeper expression of the variety. Wild herbs, purple florals, mineral-laced blackberry and white smoke lift up from the glass. It’s silky, showing depths of textural fruit, coating all that it touches in ripe cherry, blueberry and sweet spice. There are tannins here, yet they are nearly enveloped by the wine's primary components with a finish that goes on and on, tapering off to notes of violet pastille. This is a big wine, yet it colors within the lines and comes across as perfectly balanced." - Vinous
