Chateau La Fleur de Gay, Pomerol 1985

"The 1985 La Fleur de Gay has a deep garnet core with a thin tawny rim. The nose is typical of the 1985 vintage: ripe and opulent with decayed, mushroom tinged red berries, sloe, wild honey and a touch of marmalade with fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, less fleshy that I expected but very focused, gentle but insistent grip with notes of black olive, iodine, cranberry jus and minerals. It just lacks a little persistency towards the finish" – Wine Advocate
