"The 2021 Quinta da Gaivosa is balsamic, with minty, even eucalyptus notes interwoven with sweet spices, berry fruit and aromatic herbs. It's a field blend from old vines of over 20 grape varieties, fermented destemmed with neutral yeasts. The wine matured for 20 months in French oak barrels, 40% of them new. It's medium-bodied, with balsamic flavors that make a comeback from the nose, fine tannins and 13.5% alcohol. It feels a bit too oaky. 15,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2024." – James Suckling
