Viña Ardanza Celebration Dinner
This year marks a key milestone for La Rioja Alta: the 75th anniversary of its iconic wine, Viña Ardanza.
Please join us for dinner at FoFo by el Willy to celebrate this occasion. Francisco Corpas from La Rioja Alta will guide us through a range of Ardanza vintages, going back to 1989.
La Rioja Alta was founded in 1890 by five Rioja families, each of which is still involved as a shareholder today. As one of the guardians of the classic style of Rioja, it also aims to be at the forefront of modern viticulture and winemaking. The 890 and the 904, their iconic labels, are renowned worldwide, but for many it is Viña Ardanza that is synonymous with excellence in Rioja.
Viña Ardanza has always been a blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha (there was some white Viura added in the early vintages). It is always considered to be a fine example of the traditional-styled Rioja.
Jancis Robinson describes the beauty of traditional Rioja: "a wine to which one might glibly attribute the richness of a burgundy and the structure of a bordeaux. There can be strawberry fruit, vanilla spice, the nuance of prolonged age and above all comfort in a bottle of traditional rioja".
