Château Branaire-Ducru has a long history that goes all the way back to 1680, when it was founded by its first owner, Jean-Baptiste Braneyre. Located in the Saint-Julien appellation of the Médoc, the Château was classified as a Fourth Growth in 1855 and since Patrick Maroteaux acquired it in 1988, considerable improvements to the property have brought to the wine and remarkable regularity of quality.
Today, François-Xavier Maroteaux continues to fulfill his father’s goal, dedicated to expressing their terroir in a wine where fruit and aromatic complexity go together with richness and balance, without any over-extraction or heaviness. All this bears witness to the spectacular return of Château Branaire-Ducru as one of the elite Bordeaux wines.
