HONG KONG (May 2019): We are excited to announce that Kerry Wines will become the exclusive distributor of M. Chapoutier in Hong Kong (starting from 1 July 2019) and Macau (from 19th Aug 2019).
“We are honored to add one of the World’s Most Admired Wine Brands to our portfolio. Apart from its historic estate in the Rhône, Chapoutier’s footprint has also extended to other parts of the world including Australia.” - Eric Desgouttes, General Manager of Kerry Wines Greater China.
Kerry Wines is the Kerry Group’s specialist fine wine company. Founded in Hong Kong in 2010, it has offices in Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
“History will record that Michel Chapoutier is a revolutionary.” – Robert Parker
Family owned since 1808, Chapoutier is now managed by 7th-generation winemaker, Michel Chapoutier. Since he took over this historic estate in 1989, quality has soared.
Today, they are the largest vineyard owner on the prestigious hill of Hermitage, and consistently make outstanding and classic reds and whites, either organically or biodynamically.
Chapoutier is clearly a great believer in terroir. The Chapoutier Sélections Parcellaires are some of the most celebrated and rare wines in the world.
In 2019, the estate was ranked 5th in the “World’s Most Admired Wine Brands” out of more than a 100,000 wineries, published by the British magazine “Drinks International”. Since its first edition in 2011, Chapoutier has been ranked the number one French brand, 5 times in 9 years.
True to his pioneering spirit, in 1997, Michel Chapoutier set off to explore the terroirs of Australia and settled in the state of Victoria.
Fascinated by the geological diversity of the region, in 2009, he purchased two Australian vineyards: Shays Flat Estate and Landsborough Valley Estate in the Victorian Pyrenees.
He recognized that the cool weather patterns and remarkable diversity of soil and exposures in this region would allow him to make distinctive wines from the Syrah/Shiraz grape of his homeland, utilizing his biodynamic winegrowing philosophy.
