2016 Summer Burgundy 1

There is one problem with Burgundy and that is the quantity that is made. Each year, demand grows, however the vineyards are so small that there really is a pressure to quench the thirst of clients. In terms of area under vine, Burgundy is 27,700 hectares compared to 120,215 hectares in Bordeaux. 

The weather pattern is also causing problems. Earlier this year, Chablis suffered from frost which in some cases wiped out 80% of some vineyards. If that wasn't enough, two weeks later, hail came through and almost wiped out the entire vintage. Going forward, we are undoubtedly going to see the prices of Burgundy increase considerably.
